Position Description:

Under the general supervision of the Program Director function as the primary care giver to assigned children eighteen months through four years of age; promote each child’s growth and development by planning and implementing developmentally appropriate experiences; create an environment in which children can develop personal relationships, experiment, make choices, solve problems, and develop age appropriate social and self-help skills. Plan and participate in parent education and parent involvement activities. Work to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly physical environment.

KidShip is a unique program integrating preschool and pediatric day health programs. Children of various physical and developmental abilities learn to interact, accept, and be friends with each other. They share in daily activities of learning and playing together while demonstrating a profound level of inclusion and diversity. Classrooms are staffed by preschool teachers and certified nurse assistants. A licensed vocational nurse and registered nurse are also present in the facility to provide for the medical needs of some of the children.

Qualifications:

  • AA or higher in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field including (3) three core units of supervised field experience and six infant/toddler development units.
  • Experience with infants/toddlers in a group setting.
  • Experience with special needs children desired.
  • Possess or be eligible for Child Development Teacher Permit in California.
  • Possess a Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
